The Broken Ovary is a place for those affected by Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) to reach out and discuss all things PCOS. PCOS is one of the most common endocrine disorders in females, affecting approximately 5-10% of all women. Symptoms include lack of or irregular menstrual periods, excess facial and/or body hair, cysts on the ovaries, excessive weight gain, insulin resistance, acne, an excess of male hormones, infertility, and many more. PCOS can lead to Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and a myriad of other disorders. It is known as "The Silent Killer," because many women who suffer from PCOS die of related diseases. Sadly, many women who suffer from PCOS don't even know they have it, or are undertreated by their doctors. It is our mission to provide a place where women can gather to learn about and discuss the disease known as PCOS. |

Same, Yet Different
"Like most “syndrome” conditions, PCOS shows up differently in each woman, and each woman’s PCOS symptom picture will change during the course of her lifetime, too. Some women experience very few symptoms, while others have many..."
